I dedicate this A to Z Challenge to Tina Downey, one of the A to Z
Challenge founders and one of the brightest bloggers who sadly left us
last year. Harder still, she was in a secret support group that I'm part
of. The best way I can honor Tina, who was excited about and never had
the opportunity to read my debut, I've teamed up with Father Dragon to present short bios and character portraits from Woven. I'll write the bios and all art is created by Al Diaz. I hope you enjoy this visual tribute to our friend, Tina.
The precocious young leader of the Vaga people, Mylan is a girl with dark hair and silvery eyes who has mastered the art of diviner magic. There is wisdom and healing in her list of gifts, but she is especially gifted in the visions that she receives through dreams. She holds life with great respect, and it is said that she can commune with spirits when the circumstances are right.

Beautiful job, Al!
ReplyDeleteI really liked Mylan.
She looks like a free spirit.
ReplyDeleteIt would be cool to have visions of the future in your dreams.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful that you are dedicating your challenge to Tina :) The short bios are great...a lot of info packed into a concise package! And kudos to your artist!

With silver eyes how can she not be gifted with visions.
ReplyDeleteThis was lovely to read.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
I love the fact she is dancing in the illustration :) Are the silvery eyes an indication of her race or her gifts, or just her?

She's pretty. I like the detail in her costume and the fact that she's shown dancing. It really adds to her character image. :)
ReplyDeleteI liked this character a lot :)
ReplyDeleteMylan is a lovely character. I'm glad I stopped by.
ReplyDeleteShe is a great character and love the drawing of her. Very mystical indeed
ReplyDeleteYes, oh look how beautiful FD made her. Captured her lightness in such a nice way. Didn't have much of chance to see her like this in the book. But can see we might see more of it with her change in "situation!" Lisa, co-host AtoZ 2015, @ http://www.lisabuiecollard.com
ReplyDeleteI expect we'll see more of her and her special talents.
ReplyDeleteLove this pic. Looks like a gypsy!
ReplyDeleteWow, that one was awesomely done, as were the rest, but she really stands out.
ReplyDeleteShe is quite multi-talented for such a young person. So many interesting characters in your book.
ReplyDeleteShe's a character I already like.
ReplyDeleteI bet Mylan can cast spells with her bewitching diviner magic
ReplyDeleteSounds like a gypsy. Love gypsies!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tribute to Tina. I wish I had known her....I can see her impact everywhere I go online. If she could, I'm sure she would send her thanks. Thank you for visiting my blog!

ReplyDeleteShe sounds cool. I love the skirt and the sleeves :)
ReplyDeleteMylan sounds like she would be fun in a yoga class. ;) Also, I love that she has silvery eyes!
ReplyDeleteAnother great character and another great drawing. Tina would have loved this.
ReplyDeleteMylan sounds like an interesting character! And I love the drawing—another great one!
ReplyDeleteLove her dress.
ReplyDeleteWhat I'd like to know - and you can share via DF, haha:) - is did you and Al pose the characters... or did Al come up with each pose?
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
I just gave Al my character notes and Al did what an illustrating dragon does best. These poses are a pleasant surprise. :)
DeleteLovely drawing! She sounds intriguingly wise and mystical.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stuff, great post and keep up the great posts!
