I dedicate this A to Z Challenge to Tina Downey, one of the A to Z
Challenge founders and one of the brightest bloggers who sadly left us
last year. Harder still, she was in a secret support group that I'm part
of. The best way I can honor Tina, who was excited about and never had
the opportunity to read my debut, I've teamed up with Father Dragon to present short bios and character portraits from Woven. I'll write the bios and all art is created by Al Diaz. I hope you enjoy this visual tribute to our friend, Tina.
The strong and dependable blacksmith of Cobblestown, Lars is a hard working man who enjoys passing the time by telling tall tales. He keeps mostly to himself when not in his shop. Nels used to be his apprentice for a short time, and it is rumored that he has a liking for Nels's widowed mother. Time will tell if she ever returns his affections.
I'm David, and "tell your mother I said hello!"
She might be more relaxed and open now.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing, Al!
We can only hope! :)
DeleteHe was such a nice guy. Probably one of the nicest in the book. Another good depiction querido dragon.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, he didn't have great things to say about that one group of people... :)
DeleteHe does look like a strong and dependable guy. Hopefully Nels's mother returns his affections in the future. :)
ReplyDeleteLars and I would be friends I think...
ReplyDeleteHopefully things work out :)
ReplyDeleteNot sure why, but I always enjoy reading about the blacksmith in stories. There is just something about them. Love the picture as well.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy passing the time by writing tall tales:) I do like a little romance in my novels.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! Neat drawing!
ReplyDeleteA dependable and honest blacksmith is good to have around.
ReplyDeleteHi David .. I guess if you're the blacksmith - it doesn't really matter about the reality of your stories ... not many would cross you .. another great drawing .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteAwesome drawing!
ReplyDeleteSure looks always ready to lend a helping hand
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good guy. And a little romance is always nice.
ReplyDeleteI think Lars is in with a chance, Hes all thumbs up so that has to be good news.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post and a great blog you have here.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Love the name of Lars and he seems a dependable sort and may know more than he lets on
ReplyDeleteMmm... a blossoming romance in the 'woodworks'...?
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing! Father D is sooooooo talented!
I liked Lars, and truly hope he and Nels' mom get together! Great image of him, especially the smile... Lisa, co-host AtoZ 2015, @ http://www.lisabuiecollard.com
ReplyDeleteIt would be super if they did. :)
DeleteI rather thought she'd pass on Lars. He was kind, but she seemed so genteel.
ReplyDeleteYour snippets and Father Dragon's drawings fit soooo well together. Congratulations to you both.
ReplyDeleteHa, before I saw the post, I was thinking it would be a good name for a blacksmith.
ReplyDeleteI love the blacksmith archetype. I do hope he hooks up with Nels' mom, as long as Nels is cool with it :)
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a fine blacksmith.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like an old Thor!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that the name Lars is typically given to strong, valiant types?!
ReplyDeleteBrandy from Brandy's Bustlings
Hope he gets the gal. Nice blog here. Thinking what name you have for Q and X, xander, Quinn,
ReplyDeleteBased on your love comment on my L post, I'm guessing the widow will come around. But then I'm a bit of a romantic.
ReplyDeleteLars is a very nice guy... anyone with a hammer that size is a nice guy :)
ReplyDeleteHe seems like a decent type.
ReplyDeleteHi there! Blacksmiths are such powerful characters. A smithy is a vortex of power in my mind. Thank you so much for visiting my blog. Happy A to Z!
ReplyDeleteSomeone replies with some weird crap up there! Haha! You should have that blacksmith tell them a story about no soliciting spam!!
ReplyDeleteTaken care of. :)
DeleteThis looks like an interesting story. I really like the illustrations! I never knew Tina, but it seems you are showing her great honor in doing this.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! Gotta admire a character who's a hard worker... :)
ReplyDeleteA teller of tall tales, but a hard worker. I take it he regales his customers with great stories then?
