For my first A to Z Challenge ever, I'm highlighting a favorite track from various science fiction and fantasy movies, games, and TV shows. Feel free to press play and listen while you visit other A to Z participants.
After eight films, the Harry Potter franchise as given us over nine hours of tracks, perfect for all day writing binges. Is it possible to narrow it down to one favorite? This track from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, a very different score from John Williams's other Potter contributions, really stood out to me and has continued to do so.
There will be a new track tomorrow. Thank you for stopping by!
I'm David, and methinks my mischief is managed!
It fit the film, which is one of my favorite of the series.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'd completely forgotten how much I loved this music - it's been years since I saw the movie. Thank you for reintroducing me!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite films from that series! I just love the track you picked as well.
ReplyDeleteLOL This was just on last night! <3 Harry Potter :)

Just beautiful. Methinks I'm ready for another Potter marathon.
ReplyDeleteThat is perfect for a long writing binge, especially if you're writing something kind of spooky!
ReplyDeleteThe score for Prisoner of Azcaban is my favorite -- which is fitting, for the film is my favorite of the Potter films as well. Thanks for bringing it to mind and for visiting my post, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the music and this may have been my favorite too. I was made to watch the HP films by one daughter, for which I'm grateful. I had forgotten the joy of fantasy until I saw these. It's hard not to like Harry, he's got style.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit of a composed, and I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed when I heard the initial soundtrack for Harry Potter. I had something so much stronger composed in my head, something that harbored a warmer and more magical appeal. Alas, I can't remember what it now. *shrugs* I should have sketched it out.
ReplyDeleteThis piece is gorgeous.
I love everything John Williams.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the music from the Harry Potter movies, and this one is no exception. I really want to watch it now!
ReplyDeleteI've thought of buying HP soundtracks but never have. You've made me consider it.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. This one is worth listening to again.

I was hoping H would for Harry Potter. ;) Prisoner of Azkaban will always be my favorite from the series.
ReplyDeleteYeeHaaa! David, Congratulations on reach 1,000 followers!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful music...
So many scenes brought to life by John Williams over the years. :)
ReplyDeletelistening to this as i get ready to retire to bed...and this is so soothing.....loved it!
ReplyDeleteYes...great music!
ReplyDeleteI love the music from Harry Potter! Good post!
ReplyDeleteThis piece resonates down to my bone marrow. It certainly signaled a shift in the series toward darkness even though it's a beautiful melody.
ReplyDeleteNot a big Potter fan, but I enjoy his movies !
ReplyDeletelove your theme! and isn't arrow awesome? i was reluctant at first but now i can't wait till the new episode!
ReplyDeleteDear David, I love William and I am so glad you chose this for your Harry Potter post. Thank you! jean :)
ReplyDeleteWilliams! with an s!!! This is what comes from just getting back from the eye doctor!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great theme for the challenge! And a good choice of score too. I like working to movie soundtracks because there are often no lyrics to distract me and the music has dynamics that work with all kinds of different action.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, at least as good as the rest of the movie is. I'm not surprised it's John Williams. He always creates the most epic music.
ReplyDeleteThe series really took off for me starting with this book. Thanks for sharing a track.
ReplyDeleteThis track really fits this particular film. Love the whole series but this one was one of the favorites ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved the books but never could quite get into the films. Maybe when my kids are a little older. I could see us watching them together.
ReplyDeleteWow, nine hours is a lot of music...

It's a wonderful track from a wonderful film. Definitely one of the best to my mind.
ReplyDeleteI love the soundtracks from these films. You're so right about them being perfect for all day writing sessions.
ReplyDeleteLove the Harry Potter tracks. They're fantastic. Everything about HP is fantastic. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never gotten into the Harry Potter books or movies, but this was a very pretty piece of music. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all the Harry Potter movies. I haven't bought a sound track since 2001 Space Odyssey...and I think that was an LP vinyl album.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm the only person who hasn't seen the Harry Potter movies...or, um, read the books. Heh.
ReplyDeleteI admit I haven't listened to a single one of your featured tracks yet. But as of tomorrow night I will have my internet allowance refreshed, and will endeavour to go back through them then. :)
ReplyDeleteI only read the first book, haven't seen the movies. But movie soundtracks like this can be inspiring, even if you haven't watched.
ReplyDeleteThere's a Middle-Earth Network Radio streaming station that plays soundtracks and folk music. I'll use it when I need to get in the mood some nights.
So funny, I have seen the series a hundred times and have not noticed this one. It is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful track!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I know Liesl Shurtliff through her sister who is my best girlfriend here in NC. When I saw her book on the side of your blog, I thought you might know her as well. :) Although, I'm beginning to realize that in this world of writers and authors, everyone seems to "know" each other. Pretty cool. :)
Your first "has" is "as" just something I noted right away. Sorry >.< As for this being Harry Potter based I didn't skim comments and shot right down to the bottom. I've not read the books, and have yet to see the final two movies (I know... I know...), so attempting to avoid potential spoilers!
ReplyDeleteI'm not the best with different types/styles of music (I just love music), but does this have more of a Celtic like influence? I'm clueless, but may ask the Ladyfolk who is a bit more... "cultured" than I.

I love Harry Potter! :-) I've read all the books and watched all the films. :-)
