Ready for a story? My interest in zombies first began as a teenager, heavily jump started by the Resident Evil games. Zombies have been my favorite monster since. I even imagined seeing some outside the backseat window during a long family road trip in the Midwest. I wanted to make my own, but didn't know how for a long time.
Now, years later, I've given my favorite monsters a "shot." And I'm plunging into the world of self publishing for the first time. I hope you will join me when the book is available. Until then, here's the cover!

"Nothing brings the family together like a zombie apocalypse …"
After the radio picks up a distress call from Kansas City about a possible cure, Jeremy’s parents go with a team to investigate. They never return. The only way to find their parents is for Jeremy and his sister Jewel to rely on a dangerous girl who might just turn on them at any moment.

What is a cover reveal without a contest? Some time ago, I invited the blogosphere to let me turn one
Between now and next Wednesday, send an email to dpowersking [at] gmail [dot] com, with the subject line: Zombify Me! Contest. In your email, I want you to tell me three things:
1: The name you will be identified as (example: your first name).
2: A description of yourself—the more detailed you are, the better.
3: How would you like the survivors to put you out of your misery?
Four
Prizes? The winner will be zombified in My Zombie Summer: Part Two, receive a signed proof of the novel (when it’s ready), and a $20 Barnes and Noble gift card. The runner ups will receive a free ebook of The Undead Road for their Kindle (other platforms TBA).
Be sure to sign up for my newsletter for more news and updates.
Spread the word, thanks for participating, and good luck!
What do you think of the cover? Who wants to become a zombie? Are you ready to start the new year with the undead?
I'm David, and if you haven't seen any zombies, you're welcome.
Awesome cover, David! And very cool the contest winner gets to be a zombie in your next book. What a cool idea.
ReplyDeleteHi David - Jo gave it a good write up ... and good luck with your zombie sales and release later on. I too think the cover is clever .. those eyes - cheers Hilary

ReplyDeleteAwesome cover, David! It would be awesome to enter that contest and be mentioned in your second part, but I'm not a writer. Can't wait to buy it!
ReplyDeleteNo worries! You don't have to be. Just a little info and I'll do the rest, and run it by you for approval. Thank you. :)
DeleteLove the cover and the contest. WAY too much fun there. Oh wait, is that possible?

ReplyDeleteI love the colors in the cover... really stands out. Great job by Steven and congrats to you DPK, Knight emeritus of the Zombies :)
ReplyDeleteGreat contest idea. Zombies seem to be the "it" creature of the moment. I wonder why...
ReplyDeleteI hope your shot isn't a shot to the head. That's fatal to zombies :P.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the big reveal! It looks great. I can't wait for it to come out.
I love that cover and can't wait for the book. Thanks for taking care of the zombie hordes. Haven't seen one yet.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new book. You'll have to let us know how you worked with Steven to come up with that cover.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book! It sounds like a great read.
ReplyDeleteWow, that was fast! I remember back when you mentioned you were working on this. Just curious, but how long did it take to write it, do edits, and then get cleared for publishing? Seems lightning fast:)
ReplyDeleteThis was a side project for about two years, writing and editing, and the submissions and deciding to self publish. I'll have to write about a guest post for all the details sometime. :)
DeleteLove love love. Read my first zombie book a few months ago and surprisingly liked!! The cover is awesome. Great job!
