I dedicate this A to Z Challenge to Tina Downey, one of the A to Z
Challenge founders and one of the brightest bloggers who sadly left us
last year. Harder still, she was in a secret support group that I'm part
of. The best way I can honor Tina, who was excited about and never had
the opportunity to read my debut, I've teamed up with Father Dragon to present short bios and character portraits from Woven. I'll write the bios and all art is created by Al Diaz. I hope you enjoy this visual tribute to our friend, Tina.
The mother of Princess Tyra, Queen Carin is a woman who wants nothing but the best for her husband and kingdom. She shares many of the same features as Tyra (yellow hair and blue eyes) and she has a bright and sunny disposition whenever she is out in public. Some say she spends more time consoling her depressed husband than giving Tyra the parental attention she needs.

Wow, Al did a stunning drawing of the queen!
ReplyDeleteI do so agree, absolutely fab picture. Maybe that was why Tyra was such a spoilt little princess.
ReplyDeleteOooh, this one is probably my new favorite.
ReplyDeleteQueen Carin looks like a regal queen.
ReplyDeleteThis is excellent David, well done.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
She is beautiful! I love her dress. I also like it that she is a nice queen and only wants what's best for her husband and kingdom.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Princess Leia. Beautiful drawing.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful drawing depicting the queen.
ReplyDeleteThat IS a great drawing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful drawing!
ReplyDeleteNeat and another great drawing!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good queen and mother.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of the Queen and love the description! Seems she has her hands full
ReplyDeleteToo bad the pic isn't in color. That'd be fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWe don't see much of her in the book. Maybe next time?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful drawing! It's nice to hear about a queen in literature who's not evil!
ReplyDeleteIt's so difficult for a parent to be put in a position like that, between spouse in need of extra help and child.
ReplyDeleteAl just keeps outdoing the drawings from one to the next. Very regal. I like your quotes at the ends of the posts too, David, Lisa, co-host AtoZ 2015, @ http://www.lisabuiecollard.com
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that dress (even I can get girly sometimes). She sounds like an interesting character.
ReplyDeleteLike the others, I love the drawing! Sounds like a great character!
ReplyDeleteAl comes through again!
ReplyDeleteAll of these drawings have been impressive, but this one really is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with those above... Another classic by Al (and a really neat way of spelling "Karen" - if it's pronounced the same way, of course :)
ReplyDeleteI've subscribed to your blog and have been enjoying all the fine drawings and character descriptions!

She looks very regal.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a steely determination in her gaze. Looks like she isn't to be messed with.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not one of those "off with her head" queens!
