A To Z: The Return of the King "The Gray Havens"


For my first A to Z Challenge ever, I'm highlighting a favorite track from various science fiction and fantasy movies, games, and TV shows. Feel free to press play and listen while you visit other A to Z participants.

I have a confession to make. No film has ever made me cry the way The Return of the King did. This is the exact track when this happened. Don't judge me. I was in a real low place in my life and thankfully the local small town one-screener was playing this at the time. Howard Score became a household name ever since and I scrambled to find all of his music. This is still my favorite of his. I'm tearing up again ...

    I'm not big on movie soundtracks, but we own all three LOTR discs. Shore's music rivals Williams.

    I don't recall crying to The Return of the King and I've cried quite a bit during other movies. I love this track. It's so peaceful. :)

    I think Jackson has been perfect in picking the music for his Tolkien movies. I just watched the extras on The Hobbit: DoS and still was moved by the effort put into these films.

    ZERO judgement. I have never cried so often, and so hard, as I did during this movie. I saw it in the movie theatre twice and bawled both times. Embarrassing? Probably, but this is a brilliant film. And yes, by the time we reached this scene, I was a wreck. So glad you included it here.

    This really makes me want to watch these again. I haven't since their release in the theater. Yet to do the entire extended trilogy.

    I basically started blubbering when Theoden dies and kept going through the credits. When Sam says "But I can carry you" to Frodo, I totally lose it,

    Since I tear up at the drop of a hat, I am in no position to judge anyone regarding crying. Plus, I think it just shows you have a sensitive heart. Isn't that a good thing????

    I love the music from LOTR. My husband did a rewatch this past weekend and while I didn't watch with him, I loved hearing the music from another room!
