A To Z: Knights of the Old Republic "Bastila's Theme"


For my first A to Z Challenge ever, I'm highlighting a favorite track from various science fiction and fantasy movies, games, and TV shows. Feel free to press play and listen while you visit other A to Z participants.

Surprisingly enough, Knights of the Old Republic was my introduction to RPG gaming. Pretty good choice to start with. This title from BioWare eventually led to one of the most ambitious RPG developers around (Mass Effect, Dragon Age). Jeremy Soule composed the complicated score (game scores generally are), with plenty of nods to the original Star Wars score. Sometimes I couldn't wait to upgrade my lightsaber, just so I could listen to this track again. Feels like a dream, huh?

    I am one of those geeks who bought all the Star Wars sound tracks as well. The music is amazing, but haven't heard this one.

    I haven't played this one. Parasite Eve was one of my first adventures into RPG-style gaming. I remember locating the imported soundtrack at a local anime store. Made my day. :)

    Heard this one many, many times-- my husband enjoyed this game for a long time. He probably still does, but he plays it less now.

    I continue to be surprised by the variety in your choices. I confess that I don't play games, so all of these will be new to me. I like it. I can see that it would lend itself nicely to a Star Wars game. Thanks for sharing!!!

    I've never noticed video game music being interesting. But maybe the games my kids play aren't that kind of game....

    Ah, RPGs... We used to play those--my hubby and I. We haven't in a long time, but I'll never think about Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or countless others without a grin on my face.

    Very nice. I've never played KotOR. A crime, I know :( There is still time, no? I think one of the oddest soundtracks I used to own, back in the day, was a Star Wars soundtrack created for a novel. I don't think I have ever come across something like that again. Some of the tracks were really good too. Wish I could recall what it was.
