For my first A to Z Challenge ever, I'm highlighting a favorite track from various science fiction and fantasy movies, games, and TV shows. Feel free to press play and listen while you visit other A to Z participants.
What I consider to be the best film by James Cameron to date (sorry, Avatar), Terminator 2: Judgement Day is the perfect example of what a real sequel should be ... Outdo the original in every single way. In fact, it outdid the original so well, the others that followed haven't come close. The metallic score by Brad Fiedel rocks. Hasta la vista, baby!
There will be a new track tomorrow. Thank you for stopping by!
I'm David, and "there is no fate but what we make ..."
Excellent choice! Terminator II was my feature today. Fiedel's theme is iconic.
ReplyDeleteTerminator 2 was so much better than the first. And yours is the 2nd blog to feature that I've seen today. :) Good choice!

That theme song is awesome. I hope they keep it for the reboot.
ReplyDeleteThe Terminator movies are epic, and man, number 2 is beyond that. My brothers were obsessed with them, and I'll admit, I fell pretty hard too. I wasn't such a fan of liquid metal Terminator in #3, but I loved the twist they took in #4.
ReplyDeleteTrue Heroes from A to Z
Definitely the best Terminator movie. A liquid metal terminator...how can you beat that?
ReplyDeleteBecause I have boys and a hubby, they wrangled me into watching all of the Terminator movies. Now that I think about it, I only get to watch these types of movies. Maybe I should make them watch a chick flick:)
ReplyDeleteI agree that the sequel beat the original!
ReplyDeleteGreat theme song...and yes, that was my favorite Terminator movie as well! :)
ReplyDeleteThat was my favorite Terminator movie and the story was much better than Avatar. I keep seeing indications that Sky Net is just about reading to take over.
ReplyDeleteI'm not an Arnold fan, so I admit, I did not watch this movie. good music, though.

I was only a child when I saw that movie for the first time. The children on the playground that melt from the nuclear explosion traumatized me for months. It didn't help that my dad decided that it was a good time to give me a run down on the Cold War. Thanks, Dad.
ReplyDeleteAs I said on Alex's blog. I have watched this movie more times than I can count. It truly is a piece of my childhood.
ReplyDeleteBrandon Ax: Writer's Storm
Nice:) Alex wrote about T2 as well. I love both the first and second ones:)
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree, this was by far one of the best sequels. Not a huge Arnold fan, but I liked him in this one.

There are some parts in movies that only guys like The Terminator Arnold and The Rock can do. After all, they look the part of the comic book hero. I am a fan of the Terminator movies, though all are not created equal.
ReplyDeleteTerminator 2 was an amazing sequel! And the music? Epic!
ReplyDeleteT2 is gripping stuff. I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteI almost hate T2, but it's because I hated the kid so much. He was horrible. Utterly horrible. Notice his lack of success after T2.
ReplyDeleteI watched Terminator 2 first and because of that watched the first one. Great choice! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Immarcescible Word
This was indeed an awesome movie and this is an awesome score! My son and I looked at your yesterday post together last night by the way, and he was indeed familiar with it and has even drawn anime characters from it--and likes the music very much!!!
ReplyDeleteI will never be able to see or listen to this without thinking about Ah-nold. Still great movies, though :)
ReplyDeleteI must say that is definitely one of the rare cases where the sequel was better than the original! Aliens is another.
ReplyDeleteFor all it's causality-breaking faults, T2 had some epic music. It's the kind of music I'd like following me around when I go out.
ReplyDeleteThis is completely random, but I used to live right outside of Sacramento while Arnold was governor, and when we took family to see the capital, we saw that Arnold kept his Conan sword in his office. Just in case you ever wondered :)
ReplyDeleteSO deep and meaningful... A real "moody" piece!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this one, as well!
ReplyDeletegreat score.....and the right pick!!
ReplyDeleteHere's a shocker -I've never seen a Terminator movie. Better fix that.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed both. Always a bit surprised when I catch a rerun on the tube. It draws you in again. Some movies really do have a second life.
ReplyDeleteShells–Tales–Sails
Best Terminator movie ever!! And the music is still one of my favorite writing tracks:)
ReplyDeleteYup and yup - T2 is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love both the original Terminator and T2. The second definitely outdid the first in every aspect, and I recall the special effects of the T-1000 being a huge deal back then. I'm glad my dad didn't mind taking me to movies with such action (violence) and adult content when I was young! Glad to have seen this on the big screen.
ReplyDeleteNever picked up the soundtracks for either, though.
Haven't seen anything beyond T3 either. I was excited about Salvation (I think it was?), but then just never saw it.
