For my first A to Z Challenge ever, I'm highlighting a favorite track from various science fiction and fantasy movies, games, and TV shows. Feel free to press play and listen while you visit other A to Z participants.
My wife said she'd disown me if I didn't include The Princess Bride (though I'm not exactly sure what she meant by that), so I'm playing it safe by showing some love for Mark Knopfler's score. It helps that I'm a fan of the movie. Seriously, if it weren't for the pirates, giants, and monsters, I would have given up on this "kissing" movie when my sisters introduced me to it. This introduced me to fantasy, too!
There will be a new track tomorrow. Thank you for stopping by!
I'm David, and Rodents of Unusual Size don't exist *one bites me*
Your wife is a wise woman. How could you not include something from one of the best movies ever?
ReplyDeleteI think my husband's a bigger Princess Bride fan than I am. It is a very entertaining movie, though!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet movie!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my all-time favorite movies. I don't think I could listen to it while I write, though, because I'd just end up quoting the whole movie to myself!!
ReplyDeleteMy friend Meg loves this movie so much she named her cat Wesley.
ReplyDeleteBest movie, EVER! Funny, I don't think of the score when I think of The Princess Bride (too busy saying "Have fun storming the castle" - The Husband's and my way of saying good-bye to each other, or the many other fabulous lines from the movie), so thanks for bring it to my attention!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, noon on a holiday Friday - The Princess Bride might be just the ticket :)
Wait...is this a kissing book? Inconceivable! Haha, I love your wife.
ReplyDeletePrincess Bride is so classic. The music really pulls you into the story too. I'm with your wife--you had to choose this one. =)
ReplyDeleteTrue Heroes from A to Z
You're the second person to mention the Princess Bride today and it so deserves it - what a fantastic film. You seem like a decent fellow ... I hate to kill you ... :)
ReplyDeleteTasha
Tasha's Thinkings - AtoZ (Vampires)
FB3X - AtoZ (Erotic Drabbles)
I agree with your wife on this one. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love The Princess Bride! Bravo to your wife for making you post this one. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour wife has a point! And great taste in movies! The Princess Bride is a classic. My name is Inigo Montoya you killed my father, now you must die!
ReplyDeleteLove that movie! "Farm Boy" Cary Elwes shows up in the t.v. series Psych. Nice to see him after all those years:)
ReplyDeleteI tried to get my sister to watch it just a few weeks ago. She hated it. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteNice:) As you wish...
ReplyDeleteYour wife was totally right (but then again, isn't she always?!) The Princess Bride is a MUST! Such a great movie and beautiful song! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis movie was a childhood staple. So grateful that my parents were sci-fi/fantasy geeks and thus raised their children to inherit the mantle of their geekery. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Immarcescible Word
we have seen this a million times and your wife is a CATCH!
ReplyDeleteThe cool thing (which I am sure you know) is that this was originally a book by the great writer William Goldman. I had read it a hundred times before they made the movie, which amazingly, is equally GREAT. :) jean
Skipping The Princess Bride... INCONCEIVABLE!
ReplyDeleteLove this movie. I should find out if the Ladyfolk has ever seen it. I've been striking out attempting to expose her to some of the 80's movies I love like Ghostbusters and The Running Man...
ReplyDeletePerhaps this will be the key! Thank god she is actually getting into superhero movies!
Jak at The Cryton Chronicles & Dreams in the Shade of Ink
The Princess Bride is so enchanting..one of my favorite movies..
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to say anything because I don't want to be lynched by my fellow writers. Good song, though.
ReplyDeleteAn enchanting score!
ReplyDeleteYep, Princess Bride inclusion is a deal breaker. Anybody want a peanut?
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteMark Knopfler's music (solo or with Dire Straits) is really good. I'm assuming it's the same guy.
ReplyDeleteMark has such a terrific voice. I would love that song even if I didn't already love the movie.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever been to Louisiana? Those things aren't figments.
ReplyDeleteGo your wife!! This is one helluva great kissing movie. hehe
ReplyDeleteI love this piece of music.
Did you tell your wife, "As you wish?" Awesome movie and song.
ReplyDeleteBrandon Ax: Writer's Storm
Great movie, great song and you already know what I think of your blog... :)
ReplyDeleteAt least your wife didn't threaten to sic a pack of ROUS's on you!
ReplyDeleteROUSes? Inconceivable!
ReplyDeletethis is so sweet!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite movies too! Glad you listened to your wife...would have been our loss too :)
ReplyDeleteShells–Tales–Sails
Love this soundtrack. Totally forgot about it...it's around her somewhere. Your wife knows what she's talking about.
ReplyDeleteYour wife is correct! I've had this CD for twenty years and I still listen to this...Mark Knopfler is the man.
