A To Z Challenge: The Princess Bride "Once Upon A Time...Storybook Love"


For my first A to Z Challenge ever, I'm highlighting a favorite track from various science fiction and fantasy movies, games, and TV shows. Feel free to press play and listen while you visit other A to Z participants.

My wife said she'd disown me if I didn't include The Princess Bride (though I'm not exactly sure what she meant by that), so I'm playing it safe by showing some love for Mark Knopfler's score. It helps that I'm a fan of the movie. Seriously, if it weren't for the pirates, giants, and monsters, I would have given up on this "kissing" movie when my sisters introduced me to it. This introduced me to fantasy, too!

    I think my husband's a bigger Princess Bride fan than I am. It is a very entertaining movie, though!

    This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I don't think I could listen to it while I write, though, because I'd just end up quoting the whole movie to myself!!

    Best movie, EVER! Funny, I don't think of the score when I think of The Princess Bride (too busy saying "Have fun storming the castle" - The Husband's and my way of saying good-bye to each other, or the many other fabulous lines from the movie), so thanks for bring it to my attention!!

    Hmmm, noon on a holiday Friday - The Princess Bride might be just the ticket :)

    Princess Bride is so classic. The music really pulls you into the story too. I'm with your wife--you had to choose this one. =)

    Love that movie! "Farm Boy" Cary Elwes shows up in the t.v. series Psych. Nice to see him after all those years:)

    This movie was a childhood staple. So grateful that my parents were sci-fi/fantasy geeks and thus raised their children to inherit the mantle of their geekery. :)

    we have seen this a million times and your wife is a CATCH!
    The cool thing (which I am sure you know) is that this was originally a book by the great writer William Goldman. I had read it a hundred times before they made the movie, which amazingly, is equally GREAT. :) jean

    Love this movie. I should find out if the Ladyfolk has ever seen it. I've been striking out attempting to expose her to some of the 80's movies I love like Ghostbusters and The Running Man...

    Perhaps this will be the key! Thank god she is actually getting into superhero movies!
