For my first A to Z Challenge ever, I'm highlighting a favorite track from various science fiction and fantasy movies, games, and TV shows. Feel free to press play and listen while you visit other A to Z participants.
What can be trippier than a movie about a robot that is created to act like an affectionate child? Naming that robot "David" is what! When I saw Artificial Intelligence as a kid, I couldn't get the Blue Fairy voice calling my name out of my head for weeks, but what really haunted me is this fantastic score by John Williams. The Reunion is among the first tracks I go to when I'm in need of some serious "serenity now!"
I hope you enjoyed the music. Thank you for stopping by!
I'm David, and I occasionally dream of electric sheep ...
I didn't even think about the fact the character's name was David.
ReplyDeleteJohn Williams always hits it out of the park with his scores.
I never got to see this movie but I think I should!
ReplyDeleteOh you made me feel old LOL. I was an adult when I saw "A.I." Hearing you talk about it when you "were a kid" and I was like...hmmm there's at least twenty years between me and DPK.
ReplyDeleteHi David .. I don't think I've ever seen the film .. but wouldn't worry about David coming out of my head!
ReplyDeleteJohn Williams' music is always so good .. I've just seen the Book Thief and recognised his music there ..
This is lovely ... and looking forward to the rest .. Hilary
Oh my gosh, I haven't seen this movie. I remember wanting to watch it very badly, now here I am years later, and nothing. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those electric sheep dreams, David! lol
The track was lovely. I never saw the movie since from the storyline, I knew my heart would break for the young android.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great movie. Nice pick.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fantastic idea for your a to z challenge!!! I can't wait to stop back and hear more great tracks :)
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm attempting to follow, but Blogger is being a pill. I'll try back in a bit...
Lol, nice Philip Dick reference;) AI scares me though. I still eye my toaster and wonder if the machines are plotting against me, and I work in the tech industry...go figure.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I really didn't like the film, that's a great piece of music. I sometimes find composers to be more inspiring than filmmakers.
ReplyDeleteAmazing track! I haven't seen this movie, but with a score like that I'll have to! Thank you for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you really ARE the robot (that has somehow been infused with growth technology and a complete inability to remember your creation) and /that's/ why you dream of electric sheep!
ReplyDeleteSerene is definitely the right word. I feel like I have just had a refreshing nap! I even smiled!

I haven't seen that movie in a long time...
ReplyDeleteI saw that movie, and I like robots and robot stories. AI was touching, even though we're talking two robots, that child actor had unbelievably sad eyes.
ReplyDeleteIt has been forever since I have seen this. Loved the music.

Welcome to the A to Z Sucka! May the letters be ever in your favor!
ReplyDeleteI really like your theme for the challenge. The song is quite good, and relaxing. But... I've never seen the movie. I remember wanting to really bad, but then hearing maybe not so good things about it, and so avoided it? It's been so long now I can't recall. Maybe I was just creeped out some :)
Sorry I never got to venture here (your blog) last year after you had come upon mine. Planning to stick along for the duration of the A to Z, though, and am looking forward to your other selections.
I attempted to read an entry you had up (but really didn't it seems) the other night, but it was listed as "C" so the Feed must be giving previews of drafts. That or I can see into the future... I can't recall what it was called now (and I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise for others even if I did), so you will have to just take my word for it!
Good luck with the event, David!

Haha...needless to say I've never had a problem of hearing someone call my name in a movie. ;)
ReplyDeleteI vaguely remember seeing that. Had forgotten all about it.
ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasure listening to this while I caught up on my blogging. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the movie, but I know what you're saying about characters in movie (and books) that have your name. It feels a bit strange.
ReplyDeleteThis song is very soothing.
Wow, it makes me feel old that you saw that as a 'kid'. It only came out in 2001......
ReplyDeleteWhen you were a kid, David? Whoa, considering I'll be a half century old in only 16 or so months. Anyhoo, have a blast doing the A to Z Challenge and although I'm not participating this year, know that I'm proudly displaying my Supporter Badge on my Blog! :D Lily - Eva
ReplyDeleteYeah with the sad content I'm glad David wasn't a girl named Sheena. It was sad enough without that messing with my head. A.I. is a beautiful tragic movie and while I only had time to listen to the first minute of the soundtrack, I did listen and is definitely serene and moving. Oh and thank God I'm 29, I almost feel bad for you with all these comments saying you're making them feel old but hey getting older means one great thing...you're alive!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing this movie and feeling really sorry for David. It's not his fault he's a robot.
ReplyDeletelovely music and I sure enjoyed the movie! Just discovered you were playing A-Z via Madeline Janes blog! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHang on, you were a kid in 2001??? :P I was 21! lol
