Woven Update

Over the weekend, I received emails and texts from reviewers and others who are waiting for Woven. It's due to release in seven weeks, yet there's no cover and no ARCs have been sent. I feel that it's only fair to let you know that there are some complications.

I hope to have something more concrete to tell you soon. Until then, there are things I need to do on this end. I'm leaving the blogosphere and will return when I find my footing. I truly appreciate your interest and patience on Woven.

There are a few tours that I'm scheduled to participate in and I will still participate in those. I wouldn't miss them for the world.

I'm David, and you guys are awesome - keep it up!

*Update - Our publisher is no longer publishing Woven and all rights have been given back to us. We're now looking for a new home.

  1. David, was really sorry to get your email about this. I don't know what's happening behind the scenes, but hope they work it out in your favor.

  2. That sucks. If nothing else, you can always self-publish it later.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm sorry to hear about this, but trust me, if the publisher is having any sorts of problems, then it is better not to have your story published by them. It'll just complicate things later. I wish you the best!

  4. Oy vey. I'd start looking for another publisher asap. Maybe Rhemelda. If they are this uncertain, chances are they are going to just waste your time. Your book is brilliant and needs to be in the hands of someone that appreciates it.

  5. Seriously, I'm so sad to hear this. I think your amazing, and I look forward to whatever you do, Woven or no Woven. You WILL do awesome things. Hang in there!

  6. Geez. You know I've been through this too (TWICE). It's not easy, but I hope you find out what's going on. This business can be so cold, but I hope you're able to get Woven out into our hands sooner rather than later.

  7. Whatever happens, know that you have a legion of supporters who are ready to get the word out. I wish you the best!

  8. Just tell me who I need to kick in the crotch and I'll come up there and do it!;)

    ReplyDelete
  9. That's terrible. Publishing is a shaky business right now and so many are cutting back or going under. Hopefully your book still happens.

  10. I hope everything works out! Sorry to hear this!

  11. All the luck in the world man.. but luck is a byproduct of hard work and talent, so I know ultimately this will all work out to your benefit. Just remember.. one day you'll look back on this and smile. :)

  12. So sorry! Hoping everything works out the bet way possible!

  13. David, I can't imagine how that feels. Good luck and I'm praying all goes well for you.

  14. DPK...

Dude, I'm so sad to hear this news - I know I was excited to help you promote WOVEN.

Wishing you only the best, mate, and know that we'll be here with support whenever WOVEN does see the light of day - and it will, I'm sure.

  19. David, ditto what everyone else has said here. I've loved the concept of your book since you pitched it at WOC last year, and I'll be buying my copy WHEN (not if, because I know it'll get published) it gets out in the world! Hope things get ironed out for you soon.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's never fun when we hit snags like this, but I'm sure you will get through it and be better for it in the end.

On another note, enjoy your blitz day. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. I"m really sorry to hear you're having problems with publishing your book. I hope everything is resolved for you soon. Best wishes.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sorry this is happening. I know you're discouraged but there are other small presses out there. You have a support group--lean on them! Best to you and keep us informed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Keep us posted! I hope that one day I'm in a position to think about ARCs (it's a long way off) so I kind of envy you being where you are, even if you can't move forward from there (if you see what I mean!)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I hope this is just a bump in the road and that everything will work out sooner rather than later! Don't get discouraged!

  32. Best of luck! Hopefully a little Blitz will make you feel love until it's all sorted out :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I hope everything works out in your best interest. Just remember, a contract with this publisher may not be in your best interest. No contract is better than a bad contract and if they were to go under that would be more of a headache.

    ReplyDelete
  34. hey Dave also just stopping by to Blitz you ( again) with best wishes and good luck.

I know WOVEN will see the light of day - one day.

    ReplyDelete
  39. After all the work that goes into writing and polishing a manuscript, I know how crushing it can be to discover the publisher has hit the 'pause' button. Perhaps its for the best that you look for a more reliable avenue to get Woven into the hands of readers. Whatever, I look forward to hearing about your success - and it will happen. Blessings.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts for you and your manuscript. you are an amazing writer and I know once all the kinks are worked out, you will have a stellar hit on your hands. :) I'm keeping you in my thoughts, my brother author.

  71. David, I've had this happen to me a time or two in the past. Keep your chin up. On those occasions when it happened to me...a better deal came up. The key is patience wins out.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Sorry to hear about your publisher, but I hope you find success with another avenue of publishing after you figure out the best plan of action. Maybe it's for the best that it didn't work out with this publisher, since greater success might be elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hey David! I'm so sorry that things did not work out with the publisher. Woven will move on to bigger and better things because it is a wonderful story that needs to be heard by many. I will continue to wait patiently until the perfect home for your amazing book is found and I can buy my own copy in print. It will happen.

  81. Very sorry again, David. Such a terrible way to end it - so hateful and ugly.

    ReplyDelete
  82. As a budding author I find this so disturbing. It's hard enough to get to the point of publishing without having issues at that point. I hope all goes well from here on out. Vickie

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'm sorry to hear this, but keep pushing and find a home for this story. It will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I cannot even begin to imagine how awful that is. That is literally the worst thing I could imagine happening to a writer, and you must be so pissed and frustrated. So damn f-ing close, and then--

    Gah.

I know it sounds cliche, but it's true that God lets everything happen for a reason, and so I really hope and believe you'll find a better publisher soon. Best wishes--best, best wishes. I am so, so sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I am sure it is discouraging to be so close and have this problem. Hopefully this is a sign that the publisher was not the best choice. I believe another opportunity will come soon. Part of the Hammons blog blitz.

  117. Best of luck in getting your publishing problems worked out David. I recently had a short story returned to me from a publisher, and while a short story isn't as involved as a novel, it was a two year wait with the lack of interaction, so I can commiserate on a small scale.

You will find another viable home for Woven. I believe in you and your story. Take care, and good luck.
