Over the weekend, I received emails and texts from reviewers and others who are waiting for Woven. It's due to release in seven weeks, yet there's no cover and no ARCs have been sent. I feel that it's only fair to let you know that there are some complications.
I hope to have something more concrete to tell you soon. Until then, there are things I need to do on this end. I'm leaving the blogosphere and will return when I find my footing. I truly appreciate your interest and patience on Woven.
There are a few tours that I'm scheduled to participate in and I will still participate in those. I wouldn't miss them for the world.
I'm David, and you guys are awesome - keep it up!
*Update - Our publisher is no longer publishing Woven and all rights have been given back to us. We're now looking for a new home.
David, was really sorry to get your email about this. I don't know what's happening behind the scenes, but hope they work it out in your favor.
ReplyDeleteThat sucks. If nothing else, you can always self-publish it later.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about this, but trust me, if the publisher is having any sorts of problems, then it is better not to have your story published by them. It'll just complicate things later. I wish you the best!
ReplyDeleteOy vey. I'd start looking for another publisher asap. Maybe Rhemelda. If they are this uncertain, chances are they are going to just waste your time. Your book is brilliant and needs to be in the hands of someone that appreciates it.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I'm so sad to hear this. I think your amazing, and I look forward to whatever you do, Woven or no Woven. You WILL do awesome things. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteGeez. You know I've been through this too (TWICE). It's not easy, but I hope you find out what's going on. This business can be so cold, but I hope you're able to get Woven out into our hands sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeleteWhatever happens, know that you have a legion of supporters who are ready to get the word out. I wish you the best!
ReplyDeleteJust tell me who I need to kick in the crotch and I'll come up there and do it!;)
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed it all works out!
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible. Publishing is a shaky business right now and so many are cutting back or going under. Hopefully your book still happens.
ReplyDeleteI hope everything works out! Sorry to hear this!
ReplyDeleteAll the luck in the world man.. but luck is a byproduct of hard work and talent, so I know ultimately this will all work out to your benefit. Just remember.. one day you'll look back on this and smile. :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry! Hoping everything works out the bet way possible!
ReplyDeleteDavid, I can't imagine how that feels. Good luck and I'm praying all goes well for you.
ReplyDeleteDPK...
ReplyDeleteDude, I'm so sad to hear this news - I know I was excited to help you promote WOVEN.
Wishing you only the best, mate, and know that we'll be here with support whenever WOVEN does see the light of day - and it will, I'm sure.
((DPK - manhug))
I'm sorry! Best of luck with everything you do David!
ReplyDeleteI will keep every single one of my crossables crossed that everything will work out in the very best possible way. And they WILL work out-- in some way or another-- I'm sure of it! Best of luck with it all!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you and your book have hit this unfortunate snag. I hope it all works out and that things get a whole lot less stressful really soon.
ReplyDeleteJust read e-mail that comments are now allowed. Hey David, don't worry about the complications I will gladly wait for your book reveal while everything gets sorted out. Happy Blitz Day. You deserve it.
ReplyDeleteDavid, ditto what everyone else has said here. I've loved the concept of your book since you pitched it at WOC last year, and I'll be buying my copy WHEN (not if, because I know it'll get published) it gets out in the world! Hope things get ironed out for you soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's never fun when we hit snags like this, but I'm sure you will get through it and be better for it in the end.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, enjoy your blitz day. :)
I"m really sorry to hear you're having problems with publishing your book. I hope everything is resolved for you soon. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteI hope everything works out...as it rightfully should! In the meantime we (THE BLOG BLITZ TEAM) are here to show our support. Keep your chin up and watch out for that left hook! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry this is happening. I know you're discouraged but there are other small presses out there. You have a support group--lean on them! Best to you and keep us informed.
ReplyDeleteThat really stinks. Sending good thoughts your way. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the Blitz!
Hope everything works out soon for you, David. We'll be here for you, if ever you need anything. Happy Blitz Day!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to meet you, David. I hear you, my last book didn't get an ARC, but sales have started picking up. I hope to see you continue to blog!
ReplyDeleteStopping by to Blitz you with goodwill messages. Hope it all works out for you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and I hope that everything works out for the best for you and your book. So sorry there is a snag in the process. Keep your chin up!!
ReplyDeleteKeep us posted! I hope that one day I'm in a position to think about ARCs (it's a long way off) so I kind of envy you being where you are, even if you can't move forward from there (if you see what I mean!)
ReplyDeleteI hope this is just a bump in the road and that everything will work out sooner rather than later! Don't get discouraged!
ReplyDeleteI am sure everything will work out. Happy Blitz Day
ReplyDeleteBest of luck! Hopefully a little Blitz will make you feel love until it's all sorted out :)
ReplyDeleteI hope everything works out in your best interest. Just remember, a contract with this publisher may not be in your best interest. No contract is better than a bad contract and if they were to go under that would be more of a headache.
ReplyDeletehey Dave also just stopping by to Blitz you ( again) with best wishes and good luck.
ReplyDeleteI know WOVEN will see the light of day - one day.
good luck, keep the faith and stay strong!
Get some chocolate and let Jessie take whoever she needs too :) Keep having faith - things will work out.
ReplyDeleteGood luck sorting everything out. Happy blitz day :)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck sorting everything out David! I am keeping my fingers crossed that whatever happens is in the best interest for you and your book!! Lots of well wishes headed your way. ;)
ReplyDeleteHere's to hoping the kinks get worked out, David. Regardless of what is going on behind the scenes, I know you and Woven are going to be successful! Lots of prayers and white light coming your way <3
ReplyDeleteAfter all the work that goes into writing and polishing a manuscript, I know how crushing it can be to discover the publisher has hit the 'pause' button. Perhaps its for the best that you look for a more reliable avenue to get Woven into the hands of readers. Whatever, I look forward to hearing about your success - and it will happen. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteLots of prayers and positive thoughts for you and your manuscript. you are an amazing writer and I know once all the kinks are worked out, you will have a stellar hit on your hands. :) I'm keeping you in my thoughts, my brother author.
ReplyDeleteHi, David. I hope everything works out for you in the end. Wishing you much success. Happy Blitz Day!
ReplyDeleteHopefully it's a minor glitch and everything will work out even better in the end! Wishing you all the best!
ReplyDeleteArgh! Speed bumps.... But never fear, the highway is still ahead!
ReplyDeleteHave a blitzful day!
Sorry to hear that there are some complications with the latest manuscript! I hope that they're cleared up soon! Looking forward to seeing your tour runs!
ReplyDeleteHappy blitzing!
Sorry to hear about your troubles, David, but congrats on the upcoming book. And happy Blitz Day!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're still around! You've been Blitzed! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope everything works out for you! Have faith that all your trials are just a small part of a rewarding journey. Happy Blitz day! :)
ReplyDeletewe are with you David, whatever is happening.
ReplyDeleteHope it all works out. Happy blitz day
ReplyDeleteHaving that kind of thing happen probably makes you feel a little like hitting the liquor cabinet and getting blitzed for real, but THIS kinda blitz doesn't lead to a hangover. Hang in there. Happy Blitz Day!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about this, David! :( but happy blitz day! :) hopefully things will start looking better soon!
ReplyDeleteSeriously? I'm so sorry to hear this. Woven deserves the best. I guess they weren't the best. Don't give up!
ReplyDeleteNo, David. YOU are awesome. Chin up. You're in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blitz Day, David! There are a lot of people sending positive energy your way...hang in there!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear there may be complications in the "birth" of your baby. Happy Blitz all the same.

Sorry to hear that. I know this sucks as it has happened to me once. But don't lose hope. You'll find a new home for Woven. You're determined and resourceful. My best!
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing guy and great at your craft! Have a great Blitz Day!!
ReplyDeleteHey I commented below, but figured I pop in here as well. It is hard not to get down when these things happen. At least you know there are a ton of people waiting here to help when you need us. Hope the blitz lifts your spirits.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blog Blitz, David! Lots of good vibes coming your way!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blitz Day, David!! Best of luck with the book! I know it will work out. Talent always wins in the end.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this. I can't imagine the level of frustration. But at least you guys got all your rights back. Only one way to go from here--forward. You'll find a home for WOVEN, just don't give up. (:
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will find a new home for you story. Best of luck! My fingers are crossed.
ReplyDeleteBazinga!
You've been blitzed!

I'm hope your fans are keeping your spirits up and that everything gets worked out soon, better than you previous hoped. May this blitz day put a smile on your face!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard when your novel you thought was settled in finds itself an orphan. It is a strange world with its twists and turns. May your convoluted path straighten into one of success very soon.
ReplyDeleteUrg! But glad you got those rights back because with so many options in publishing these days, Woven is sure to land in a better place. :)
ReplyDeleteSo close... wishing you luck in finding a new home for Woven.
ReplyDeleteHated to hear about complications on this. I've been so excited for you. Hopefully, things will work out in the best way for you. Keeping my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI am sooooo sorry about Woven and the complications. I'm sure that a new home for Woven will be found quickly. Good luck and fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're taking a leave of absence, but I'm glad you're going out on a Blitz day so you know how much you'll be missed!
ReplyDeleteHey, David,
ReplyDeleteCheer up man.. a BETTER Publisher will come your way! At least you did get support for you book and hopefully your FORMER publisher help make it even better. Remember when one door closes an window opens...
ALL THE BEST! Sending POSITIVE VIBES your way!!!!!!!!!!
David, I've had this happen to me a time or two in the past. Keep your chin up. On those occasions when it happened to me...a better deal came up. The key is patience wins out.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your publisher, but I hope you find success with another avenue of publishing after you figure out the best plan of action. Maybe it's for the best that it didn't work out with this publisher, since greater success might be elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteHey David! I'm so sorry that things did not work out with the publisher. Woven will move on to bigger and better things because it is a wonderful story that needs to be heard by many. I will continue to wait patiently until the perfect home for your amazing book is found and I can buy my own copy in print. It will happen.

ReplyDeleteThis business can really be brutal, I totally sympathise. I'm sure things will work out and you'll get to share your work with the world! Best of luck and happy blitz day! :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about this. But like everyone else above, I believe things will sort out for the better soon. Sending you positive energies.
ReplyDeleteDavid, I hope things turn around for Woven and you find a new publisher quickly. God bless, Maria from Delight Directed Living.
ReplyDeleteSorry your book lost its home, but I'm sure you'll find a new one for it! Happy blitz day.
ReplyDeleteOh Rats! That must just hurt so much. I sure hope that getting blitzed helps a little bit to lift your spirits. I'm sending good vibes to get your Woven published.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry again, David. Such a terrible way to end it - so hateful and ugly.
ReplyDeleteAs a budding author I find this so disturbing. It's hard enough to get to the point of publishing without having issues at that point. I hope all goes well from here on out. Vickie
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to read this. I hope you will find a new home for Woven soon. Take care and I hope the Blitz brings you some smiles in spite of this disappointment.
ReplyDeletei tweeted tge Advocate about this discrimination
ReplyDeleteNice one, Michael :)
DeleteSorry to hear it, but keep your chin up. If you were signed once before, you'll get signed again. And there's always the self-publishing route! ;)

ReplyDeleteHi David, I'm here from the Blitz. I'm really sorry to hear your news - but I have no doubt Woven will find a great home in future. *big hugs*
ReplyDeleteDavid, Perfect time for a Blog Blitz, I'd say. Let's get the word out. Maybe that would help. Keep your chin up. Nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Woven, but I'm glad you got all rights back! Here's to Woven landing at a better home! :)
ReplyDeleteShowing some Blitz'in love :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your book. But at least you got your rights back. I'm sure you'll find a new home for it soon. A better one!
ReplyDeleteEverything happens for a reason. WOVEN will find a home worthy of it, I'm sure! All the best and blitzy, Dannie
ReplyDeleteThis makes me sad for both of you, but I'm glad you both stood up and said no to the bullying and unfair treatment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you find a new, better, home for your work.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear this, but keep pushing and find a home for this story. It will happen.
ReplyDeleteI cannot even begin to imagine how awful that is. That is literally the worst thing I could imagine happening to a writer, and you must be so pissed and frustrated. So damn f-ing close, and then--
ReplyDeleteGah.
I know it sounds cliche, but it's true that God lets everything happen for a reason, and so I really hope and believe you'll find a better publisher soon. Best wishes--best, best wishes. I am so, so sorry.
I am sure it is discouraging to be so close and have this problem. Hopefully this is a sign that the publisher was not the best choice. I believe another opportunity will come soon. Part of the Hammons blog blitz.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that WOVEN won't be out as scheduled. Just know that there are kind thoughts surrounding you as you hunt for a new home for WOVEN. May the Blitz help you as you go forward.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that! Hopefully the next home you find for it will be perfect.
ReplyDeleteSorry I so hope you find a new home, soon! I am sure your new home will be more your style! Take Care~ :D

ReplyDeleteIt's all part of the journey. Not much you can do but keep on going.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blitz :)
I wish you well with your new book.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BLITZ DAY.
Yvonne.
Sorry to hear what's happened, but we have a saying here 'every disappointment is for good'. Your book will find a home.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry that happened. That must be incredibly disappointing—to say the least, I'm sure) I hope you find a new home for your work soon.
ReplyDelete(Hello from the Blitz...)
Hang in there. I'm sure you'll find a new publisher soon. Happy Blitz Day!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about Woven! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will find a new publishing home=)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck in getting your publishing problems worked out David. I recently had a short story returned to me from a publisher, and while a short story isn't as involved as a novel, it was a two year wait with the lack of interaction, so I can commiserate on a small scale.
ReplyDeleteYou will find another viable home for Woven. I believe in you and your story. Take care, and good luck.
.......dhole
What an emotional roller coaster. While it's disappointing and frustrating, you have to believe it's for the best in the end...Hoping you find a new (and better) home for Woven soon!
ReplyDeleteHi David, first time here at your site with the blog blitz team. I wish you all the best with your writing and hope things will get straightened out for you soon!

ReplyDeleteHappy blog blitz! Sorry things have been so complicated for you. I hope everything works out for the best!
ReplyDeleteI'll be back tomorrow to spend a little more time and 'read all about it', but I wanted to sneak in under the wire and say HAPPY BLITZ DAY.
ReplyDeleteOh David, just so sorry to hear about Woven. As many have already said, I'm sure it will find it's 'home' soon. Try to stay positive, many folks out here rooting for you. Happy Blitz Day.

ReplyDeleteAll the very best - cheers Hilary
I'm a bit late to the blog blitz (I was out of town), but I wanted to say how sorry I am that this has happened.
ReplyDeleteBravo to you and your writing partner for standing up for who you are as people and writers. We can all work together to change these archaic ideas about "how things should be". The book sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteHappy blitz...however I hate that you are going through such am ordeal. It is never fun to have any "rug" pulled from beneath union any circumstance but this definitely hurts! My thoughts are with you and your friend...the right outlet will come along... Have faith. ;)
