Happy New Year (four days late)! Not only did we celebrate the advent of a new year, but the start of a new decade, heralded by the rise of a blue moon. It had an almost magical feeling to it. Unfortunately, fate has decided to hit me with a chest cold. It's not exactly the way I want to start off the first work week of the year, but I'm better off quarantining myself in my room than going to the hospital where I work. More people will be better off that way, I think.
Updates: My wife reviewed chapter 3 of the collaboration with me last night. After making a couple minor adjustments, chapter 3 is set. Chapter 4 has begun its initial phase. Some arrangements have been made so that I can spend a good four hours on Friday mornings to write as well. Taking all of this into consideration, knowing that winter is the best season for me to write, I hope to have the first draft of this novel completed by June of this year.
Concerning my short, Forerunner. It's in the mail, on its way to Los Angeles! After receiving additional, positive, praising feedback, I decided it was time to get over my reservations and submit my short story to the Writers of the Future Contest. And now, we wait. Who is to say that anything will come of it, I don't know. I'll be lucky to receive the lowest degree of recognition available, whatever that may be. We'll see. I don't want to anticipate anything. Whatever happens will happen. Wish me luck.
Here's to your new year and that you're starting off healthy and invigorated. 2010, begin!
