New and Exciting Reads: The Adventurer's Guild, Mustaches for Maddie, and Anthology News!

Greetings, Cosmic Crew! And a Happy Friday the 13th (muhhaha!).

How often does an author get to share news about his own editor's book debut? Or share a book based on actual events surrounding a good friend and fellow author's daughter? Probably not often if at all, let alone in the same post! Here's what's new this month in the world of reading that I think will be worth your while to investigate further:

The Adventurer's Guild by Zack Loran Clark and Nick Eliopulos

In one of the last cities standing after the world fell to monsters, best friends Zed Kagari and Brock Dunderfel have high hopes for the future. Zed desperately wishes to join the ranks of the Mages Guild, where his status as Freestone's only half elf might finally be an asset. Brock, the roguishly handsome son of merchants, is confident he'll be welcomed into the ranks of the Merchants Guild.

But just as it seems the boys' dreams have come true, their lives take a startling turn . . . and they find themselves members of the perilous Adventurers Guild.

Led by the fearsome Alabasel Frond, the guild acts as the last line of defense against the Dangers-hungry ... beasts from otherworldly planes. And when the boys uncover a conspiracy that threatens all of Freestone, Zed, Brock, and their new allies-Liza, a fierce noble, and Jett, a brave dwarf-must prove their worth once and for all.

Based on a true story.

Twelve-year-old Maddie has a quirky sense of humor and loves making her classmates laugh by slapping on fake mustaches every chance she gets. Being funny gets her noticed by class queen Cassie, and things are looking up when Maddie is cast as Juliet in the school play. Maybe Juliet could wear a mustache? When Maddie starts tripping when she walks and her hand starts curling up at her side, her mom takes her to the doctor, who confirms Maddie has a brain tumor. In an instant, her world is turned upside down. Maddie doesn’t want anyone else to know. Especially Cassie, whose jealousy has turned to bullying. What about Maddie’s chance to play Juliet opposite the cutest boy in the sixth grade? What if the doctors can’t get the ugly tumor monster out of her brain? As Maddie’s surgery approaches, she wonders if her illness is giving her super powers because her imagination is bigger than ever, her courage is stronger than ever, and her compassion is about to be felt by more people than she ever imagined.

The anthology I mentioned before is coming soon, with the title of Full Dark: An Anthology. The Goodreads page is up and running. So if you enjoy dark and twisted tales of a Twilight Zone nature just in time for Halloween with all proceeds going to benefit our veterans and first responders, feel free to add Full Dark to your reading list.

Edit: on this day, 20 years ago, my writing journey began. Sweet!

Thanks for checking in. Until you next time, my fellow cosmonauts!

I'm David, and we STILL wear our mustaches for Maddie!

Happy writing anniversary! I can't say that I know when I starting writing. I probably don't want to do that math, either. No need to feel older than I already do...
