Hey, guys! Hope you're all having a splendid holidays and not getting too candied up. We're wrapping the Laire this year with a new book I've had a chance to read. I highly recommend this for anyone who would like to shake up their romance read a bit .... and I mean that literally because of all the earthquakes in it! This post will also serve as a closing of the year, and what the future holds for yours truly.
But first, let me introduce you to Carrie Butler's awesome book!
AS WE KNOW IT by Carrie Butler
Deep beneath the ocean, stretching hundreds of miles alongside the Pacific Northwest coastline, lies the Cascadia subduction zone—a fault on the verge of unleashing a catastrophic earthquake, thirty times more powerful than the San Andreas. Unfortunately, like most tourists, Elena Cordova is oblivious.
She’s got her own pent-up stress to deal with, a humiliating breakup that’s driven her to end her tenure as a human doormat once and for all. So, when a pickpocket makes off with the last remnant of her relationship, she takes action—only to get trapped with him when disaster strikes.
She’s got her own pent-up stress to deal with, a humiliating breakup that’s driven her to end her tenure as a human doormat once and for all. So, when a pickpocket makes off with the last remnant of her relationship, she takes action—only to get trapped with him when disaster strikes.
Now, if either one hopes to survive, they’ll have to get past their initial impressions and work together . . . because in fifteen minutes, half the town will be underwater.
You can find this book on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Visit Carrie Butler's website for more information about Carrie and her books!

Well, guys. 2016 is nearing its conclusion. Thankfully my time away from social media for school allowed me to avoid most of the election nonsense, and was rewarded with all A's this first semester. It wasn't easy, but the task is done. One more semester to go before starting an internship for a license. However, my time away from the webs has left me disconnected from writer friends I hold dear. I'm sorry for my absence, and I'm sorry that my absence may continue as I am heavily considering a Masters program. With Child #4 on the way and my writing time ever pressed, it is the only sustainable option I see for me and my family at this time. It's going to be a while before I can write more zombie tales, among other stories that I long to tell.
There is good news, though. A working draft for a WOVEN sequel is completed, and I am spending the holidays working on the first edits. This story has come a long way, the loose ends sewing up nicely. So there is that to look forward to! I'll let you know what becomes of it. Until then, I wish you all a Happy New Year. I'll see you in 2017!
For your continued patronage to this site and my work, I thank you.
How was 2016 for you? Got any plans for the holidays? Anyone seen Rogue One yet? What are you looking forward to during 2017?
I'm David, and I know I shouldn't, but I will have another Oreo ...
Highly recommend As We Know It, excellent story. Congratulations on your excellent results. Wishing you all the luck for the coming year.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with school and child #4 :) Don't worry about being absent. You do you, and take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! May it bring good and great things to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteHi David - Carrie's book sounds very interesting in the light of many earthquakes occurring at the moment - not a scenario I wish to be in. Well done on your achievements ... the Masters, then the sequel ... and your new little one waiting in the wings - congratulations and here's to a very happy 2017 .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love Carrie's work:) Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the shout-out, DPK! I really appreciate it. :) Here's wishing you and yours a wonderful (and manageable) New Year!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the straight A's, and how exciting about child #4! It's more than understandable that you'd be away from social media as a result. Real life should always come first!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great way to open the year. Heat-stopping stories. Happy 2017!
ReplyDeleteEat your oreos and be happy David. Happy 2017 and congrats on all you have done. Writing sometimes needs to take a back seat and we understand your absence. Sending love. Congrats to Carrie, I got an arc of this novel and was impressed enough to buy my own copy and feature it on my blog when it released.
