Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers and Inside Out Movie Review with Cinematic Universe Ultimate!

Hello, everyone! I didn't mean to be MIA on the Internets for so long. Business continues now that Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers (WIFYR) concluded last week. I thank everyone who filled the classroom for my Heroes and Villains presentation and those who visited me at the signing.

Ready for a story? Some years ago before my writing took a more serious turn, I was involved in an online movie review community with a great group of reviewers, movie buffs who have repeatedly put me to shame with their insight and knowledge. At one point, I became an official reviewer of the site. But for various reasons the group disbanded from the site and kept the community alive on Facebook. In the last year, we've tried something new--podcasts on Youtube! I have officially joined as their "resident animation guru." For your listening and viewing pleasure, I present my first contribution to Cinematic Universe Ultimate. Have a listen. Check out their other reviews. Like and share, if you'd like.

The channel is young and I'm warming up to being on a microphone. Warning: there's major spoilers and some language (22:45) ahead.

Back to writing and setting up my Illinois tour. See you next time! :)

Who's surprised by Jurassic World and Inside Out's BO records? Have you seen these yet? What are your thoughts about Inside Out?

I'm David, and "I would DIE for Riley..."

  2. That's cool you're doing a podcast.
I saw Jurassic World but haven't seen Inside Out yet. Still leery of Pixar after the last few films.

    1. If you liked Up, you'll probably like Inside Out. My family thought Up was utterly depressing and they didn't like either film. They both have prominent sad/bittersweet story lines.
I enjoyed both movies, though I did cry at the end of Inside Out, and I rarely cry in movies.

  4. Congratulations on successfully teaching your course! Heroes and Villains sounds like a great topic. In fact, I have a similar topic offered on my list of school presentations, but no school has asked for that one yet. :( They keep picking the same presentation (POV) over and over. I'm getting a little tired of that one and hope some day to be able to do one on Heroes & Villains!

  5. Good to hear your course was successful. School talks are difficult to score.

  7. This podcast sounds like a great idea! I LOVED Jurassic World (I actually wrote a whole blog post about it this week), and I really want to see Inside Out, but my partner isn't convinced!

  15. I think you are the perfect person to do animation movie reviews. In fact, I may be experiencing "Joy."

  16. Congrats on being in the podcast.

I've heard good things about In and Out. Maybe I'll go see it while hubby's gone. We enjoyed Jurassic Park. Better than the second and third movies. Good pop corn fun.

  18. Looks cool:) Although with a newborn in the house I probably won't be getting to a movie for some time...figners crossed I'll see Star Wars when it comes out;)

  19. Awesome! I prefer to go into movies blind...or at least after finding a general star rating. It's fun to be surprised, right?

  20. I still have to watch both movies. :-)

  21. Haha! What a variegated life you've led, my friend! I haven't seen either of these movies yet, which is strange: I'd normally never miss a Wes Anderson, Pixar or Miyazaki.
