I dedicate this A to Z Challenge to Tina Downey, one of the A to Z
Challenge founders and one of the brightest bloggers who sadly left us
last year. Harder still, she was in a secret support group that I'm part
of. The best way I can honor Tina, who was excited about and never had
the opportunity to read my debut, I've teamed up with Father Dragon to present short bios and character portraits from Woven. I'll write the bios and all art is created by Al Diaz. I hope you enjoy this visual tribute to our friend, Tina.
The father of King Lennart, remembered by many as a benevolent monarch, Yalva met an untimely death years ago. His son's reluctance to uphold the throne has caused Yalva to remain as a ghost in the kingdom, a ghost that no one has seen for decades. If only his son (or Princess Tyra, his granddaughter) would take his mantle and rule Avërand with honor, Yalva's ghost will finally be able to move on.

Excellent drawing today, Al!
ReplyDeleteHe certainly looks like a king. :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully, he has found peace now =)
ReplyDeleteGreat character and similarly great drawing.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing yet again. Al is really talented. :-)
ReplyDeleteFeel sorry for Yalva, though. Not moving on seems a terrible fate.
Nice one :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Yalva. I seem to have gotten to love all the dead characters in the story...
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing! He does look very kingly :)

You don't have to be alive to be a character. You've proven that!
ReplyDeleteI agree with C. Lee! Your book left me wanting more! Lisa, co-host AtoZ 2015, @ http://www.lisabuiecollard.com
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a reluctant heir to make you rest uneasily.
ReplyDeleteAww come on, let the poor ghost cross over. =)

Oh no! It sucks when the ghost lingers due to events out of its control.
ReplyDeleteOh he sounds like a noble ghost who needs to be able to leave the in between world. Love the illustrations (all of them)
ReplyDeleteYalva sounds like he's being a typical dad, riding his son's rear. Right? Wonderful illustrations, David.
