The WOVEN A to Z Challenge: C is for Canis!

I dedicate this A to Z Challenge to Tina Downey, one of the A to Z Challenge founders and one of the brightest bloggers who sadly left us last year. Harder still, she was in a secret support group that I'm part of. The best way I can honor Tina, who was excited about and never had the opportunity to read my debut, I've teamed up with Father Dragon to present short bios and character portraits from Woven. I'll write the bios and all art is created by Al Diaz. I hope you enjoy this visual tribute to our friend, Tina.

Father Dragon had surgery recently. Thank the makers our resident dragon is on the mend now. I'm sure he would appreciate a visit.

C is for Canis

One of the older knights of Avërand (favored until Arek assumed the honor), Canis is a dependable and loyal man, always prepared to fulfill any order from the royal family - no matter how trivial it may be. He has light brown hair and eyes, and he knows how to handle a sword. He is one of the few who are suspicious of Arek's true intentions for courting Princess Tyra.

Tomorrow: D is for Dyre.

I'm David, and "ready your feet, lads!"

  23. Thanks for writing about Tina. I didn't know much about her, but was curious as to why the A-Z is a tribute to her this year. Now I know. Sorry for the loss of someone who was much loved.

This artwork is wonderful! I am glad I stopped by and will again. Thank you for stopping too.

  24. I also did not know the story of Tina. This is my first A to Z. I didn't know what to expect with the title of your post - I was pleasantly surprised. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  25. Nice tribute, David! (and Father Dragon). I've been busy a few days, and so missed your A&B entries, but I think it's a brilliant way to do the A-Z challenge.

  26. Doing characters from your books for the A-Z, I meant. Didn't quite finish that thought. :-)

  27. I especially like the drawing for this one.

  28. Another great description. Reminds me a little of Lancelot. Great drawing as well

  31. The kind of person you want around in a crisis.

  32. Canis (dog star) must a loyal and intuitive friend. Stays by your side. Good person.
Over from the A2Z; thanks for your comment at my site!

  33. Definitely looks like someone to have on your side.

  34. Canis is a great character and that drawing looks so fierce!

  35. Writing a book about fictional characters is like creating a new world. I wonder if it is easy for you to come up with interesting characters.

    The portrait is splendid.

  36. Canis sounds like my type of guy! Prefer them dependable and loyal, never mind the hair - light or dark. All the drawings are exquisite!

  37. I like the armor in this picture. For an older knight he has aged well! I'm sure he will uncover Arek's intentions one way or another!

  38. Those are so awesome! You totally need to add Woven's cover on the picture and set them loose on Instagram!
Ooh...or make them into trading cards.

  39. Haven't met him yet but looking forward to it. He sounds like a smart guy, perceptive... Me too, like the pose FD chose to draw of Canis. Lisa, co-host AtoZ 2015, @ http://www.lisabuiecollard.com

  40. Canis sounds nice. Is he? great sketch.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Okay he looks cool. I always love knights though. If he is a protector it is good he is a suspicious sort.

    ReplyDelete
  42. He sounds intriguing! I love characters that are loyal and perceptive - always makes me wonder who the MC will side with; their loyal friends, or their new (somewhat suspicious) friends. Is it weird that I find Canis good looking...?
