For
my first A to Z Challenge ever, I'm highlighting a favorite track from
various science fiction and fantasy movies, games, and TV shows. Feel
free to press play and listen while you visit other A to Z participants.From the heydays of LucasArts's click-adventure generation came this marvelous gem known as The Dig, based on a concept from Steven Spielberg himself. It's about a team of astronauts, accidentally sent to an alien planet, where its inhabitants are extinct, and the humans have to "unearth" their technology to find a way home. I spent many good hours playing this on the PC back in the early 90's, and the score by Michael Land and Clint Bajakian carried it well. This was made into a game instead of a movie because we didn't have the technology to film it. Well, that was almost twenty years ago. Someone get on it!

ReplyDeleteThis would not be a NEED FOR SPEED if Spielberg did it. The soundtrack is lovely. Thanks for the verbal pat on the back today. I certainly needed it. Recovering from cancer surgeries and trying to work a 50 hour work week plus writing is draining me a bit!

I'm a little surprised this one hasn't been gotten to yet. They seem to be making movies of everything lately, including the kitchen sink (and what's been stored in the cabinets beneath, collecting dust and water stains behind the pipes).

ReplyDeleteI could go to sleep with this one. Not sure how good movies videogames make. I've only seen Final Fantasy VII and Halo and I wasn't impressed.

ReplyDeleteThe concept sounds really good, and if done right, would likely be a sweet movie. You'd think this would have been one they jumped on now that technology has "caught up". Who knows, maybe it will still come to fruition.
