Post: Thank You, Book Releases, and Some Sad News

This taking a week off business worked great - I think it will stay.

Before this post takes off, I want to thank you all for the wonderful reception you guys have given to our news about Woven. It took a while to catch up with the comments, tweets and sharing! We are very grateful and motivated to deliver the best book that we can.

Some have already asked about blog tours and reviews, which we will bring up as we near its release. Until then, this blog will remain the same haven of science fiction and fantasy that it's always been.

Bring on the awesomeness!

I have some covers for you this week! Some of them you may have seen floating about the Blogosphere, but these caught my attention and deserve a little more love. Congratulations, Jamie and Wendy!

Both available now!

Not to be a downer, but I have to pay tribute to a good friend who left us this weekend. After 12 years of love and loyalty, my wife's Shetland Sheepdog's health has deteriorated in the last few months, and the hard choice was made. He was a great judge of character. He growled or nipped at whoever tried to date his master - except for me, for some reason. We got along great, and while I never had a dog of my own, I can't imagine any other could ever take his place.

You will be missed, Danny Boy.

Update: Now that I'm contracted, things are about to change. I'm not sure how these changes are going to look just yet, but I know taking care of initial pre-publication business and reviewing our MS one last time will put the Zombie story (among others) on hold for now. I'll get back to it when free time rears its beautiful head again.

Also, LTUE is next week! That means I'm warming up the conference juice. If any of you are planning to go, we should totally hang out.

Remember, I'd like to spotlight your upcoming releases and cover reveals. Send me word and I'll save you a spot on the next Post.

Got to head back to the grind. Have a great week, everyone!

How are you guys doing? Where are you at in your writing journey? Do anything fun over the weekend. Anyone seen Warm Bodies?

I'm David, and this one's for you, Danny.

  8. We've got two dear, furry friends in our house David. The oldest (a chihuahua named Eddy) is thirteen this year and has been with my wife and I since our dating days as well. They are such important parts of our lives, and I'm sorry for your family's loss.

Let me know if I can help with the book launch goings on.

  11. I'm so sorry about Danny. Coincidentally, when I worked at the vet one of my favorite clients had a sheltie also named Danny who absolutely loved me and me him. I was always so happy to see my friend Danny boy. May they both rest in peace.

  17. Sorry to hear about Danny Boy. It's always hard when you lose a pet. :(

I'm so thrilled about Woven! Congrats. That is amazing and exciting!

I haven't seen Warm Bodies yet, but I would like to. It might be interesting, and it looks very different from the other zombie romances that I've seen (most of which leave me thinking "Ew!"). When I do see it, I'll definitely post a review.

Other than that...I've had a good weekend. Another short story is done, to be published in two weeks, after my Valentines Day release. I'm definitely excited about that! Plus, some other big publishing decisions have been made, but I'm saving those for posting next Monday. :)

    Best Wishes,

    Alexandra~

  32. I feel for you and the loss of your dog. Still miss mine.
Have fun with all the prepub work with Woven.

  33. Aww. This is the second comment today that I've made about the loss of a beloved dog. They are truly members of the family. So sorry for your loss. I know it is hard, and it will get easier over time, but that doesn't ring true for a while. I've been there, and the only thing that got me over it was getting a new pet. But it takes time.
And I'm reading 18 Things right now. It deals with grief very realistically.

  34. So excited for to see what changes occur for you as well as the upcoming book release.

So sorry for the loss of your Danny Boy.

As for my writing journey, I am submerged in revisions and determined to start a final read-through by March.

  35. Beautiful dog; I'm sorry for your loss.

I should really go to LTUE. Is it more than an opportunity to bathe in the glow of Brandon Sanderson? If it is, I think I should go.

I will be at LTUE. We should all plan a writers' dinner. ;)

  37. So sorry to hear about your treasured Danny. A day never goes by when I don't think of my treasured Bacci and Nina. My best friends and my kids....

Please give a hug to your wife from me....

  38. Sorry about Danny. It's incredibly painful when a beloved dog dies--especially one who has been around for so long.

In happier thoughts, I'll see you at LTUE next week! (I'll be the one NOT wearing elf ears and a billowing cape.) ;-)

  39. Such excitement in your life! Congratulations.

And condolences, as well. There is nothing more heartbreaking than the loss of a family member, whether two-legged or four-legged.
