What makes a great action/adventure story is a great ending, and it's the music that makes this happen sometimes. In that moment, the notes connect and make it so what you've experienced can never be forgotten. Such as it was for me with this week's score:
The Sand Volcano: by Jerry Goldsmith
From the film: The Mummy
I saw this film in theaters with my best highschool friends. You should have seen us acting and sounding like mummies all over downtown afterwards. Listening to this resurrects a lot of powerful memories, so I'm going to tag Hanny, one of my first members, whose adventurous spirit is infectious and makes me feel young (and makes me want to go out and fight mummies) again. Here's to the power of youth!
I'm David, and "you're on the wrong side of the river!"
Goldsmith always creates great scores.
ReplyDeleteLoved the Mummy soundtrack!
ReplyDeleteSuch a memorable movie for sure!
ReplyDeleteI like listening to the score at the end of a movie as the credits roll past. It helps keep the magic alive a little longer.
ReplyDeleteThat was such a fun movie. Love it.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I thought your title said Thursday scones, and I got very excited. I have a cup of tea and was all ready....
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I pay attention to music in movies and even on TV shows. I'll often point out to my husband a scene in some crime TV show how without the music, the scene wouldn't have much impact, but with the music, wow-- you know the mood right away.
Oh, how I loved The Mummy. Such a fun film, and with really good music, I think. Thanks for posting! :)
ReplyDeleteBest,
Alexandra~
Music is so powerful. And the movies have the best music.
ReplyDeleteJust try turning the sound off on your television during an intense or exciting scene in any movie. It is nothing without the right music.
ReplyDeleteMusic is so important in a movie. Tension, drama, romance it's all heightened by the choice of music.
ReplyDeleteThe Mummy is one of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people can name a film from the score which is great. Although some people get muddled with Star Wars and Superman. :)
Aw yes! The music totally makes the movie! And I LOVE The Mummy. I totally have to go watch it now. :D
ReplyDeleteHahaha. My favorite quote of this movie was: "Do you swear?" - "Every damn day."
ReplyDeleteI'm a total Mummy fan! Hmm... maybe I'll have to rent it this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love The Mummy, I watched it recently but I might have to watch it again...
