Post: A Short Hiatus Needed - Getting Back To Reality

Hey, peeps!

My blogging has been somewhat inconsistent this week, for good reason. After a four-month overhaul, our revision for Woven is finally finished, leaving me with mashed potatoes for brains. It's now in the hands of Beta readers. So while I await their feedback, I'm taking the week off to catch up on blogging and work on long-overdue home improvement projects, like filling the hole The Boy dug in the back:

That's one busy kid!

Amazing how much gets piled on when you have tunnel vision and the only thing you can think about is your MS. No matter. We'll take care of business. That way we can start a new project while shopping the other (and finally get The Girl's closet painted). See you soon!

I'm David, and they mine copper in that there pit.

  1. That's SOME hole The Boy went and did done dig. :) MS obsession is a perfectly good excuse for clocking out. But, welcome back!

  2. Good to have you back!
If I went on hiatus I think my Army would lynch me...

  3. Call that a hole? Pah. I dig that on my lunch break.

  5. And I'll bet that's the whole you can see from space. Hiatuses are nice.

  6. Congrats on finishing your revisions. I'm in the middle of edits at the moment and understand mashed potatoes. (:

  7. I probably should have gone on hiatus, but I tried to push through anyway. I'm too stubborn for my own good sometimes.

  8. Three cheers for finishing up that overhaul. Lots of work that will pay off. Enjoy the time away and uh...don't hurt yourself taking care of that hole lol!!

  9. It feels good though, doesn't it? If I'm busy it's okay as long as it's writing. Skyrim is inexcusable though:)

  10. Congratulations on the great progress.
I'd love to ask you more about how you manage focus on the MS whilst being in an intense day job? I'm floundering with that myself. Yuck.
    Maybe I'll email you sometime.
Great blog by the way. Long time reader, rare commenter.

  13. That's a scary mine. Two little neighbor girls dug a big hoome in our yard once. Not sure what they were looking for but it was impressive. I still have trouble with it settling and sinking. Enjoy the time between readers and editing.

  15. Have fun!

Wish I could have such tunnel vision. I need to win the lottery so I don't have to work so darn much.

  16. Congrats on getting your revisions done! Watch out for the hole--don't fall in!

  18. I love that feeling of finishing up a writing project (or at least getting it to a point where I need to let it rest a while) and catching up on everything else in my life that I've been neglecting. Good luck with everything!

  19. I hope your mashed potatoes at least have butter and cream in them...maybe some gravy too.

  20. Congrats on finishing! That's a huge deal! I can't wait to finish my ms. And yes, sometimes it overtakes me. ;)

  22. Welcome back! You've been missed. Good luck on the hole. Looks more intimidating that pitching to an agent for the first time...maybe.

Way to go on MS and I look forward to reading it someday!

  23. Ohhhh... man! Too true, David! I'm just coming out of the revision tunnel myself. And heh, if you ever need another beta... just saying... ;)

  24. I live near a similar pit that mines coal.

Taking a break is always a good idea, so see you when you're back from hiatus. Hope you get good feedback from the Beta readers :)

  25. I think I'm on a constant hiatus, but I do pop back up every now and again. :D At least you had a good reason for yours. ;) Congrats on getting it done and off to the betas. Welcome back.

  27. You deserve this break. Live it up! (Meaning do something rewarding for yourself AND take care of your kids.) And good luck de-mashing your brain. :-)

  28. Enjoy your break. My blogging always seems to come last after family, writing, full time work, running, tweeting and facebook.
