Post: A Productive Week & Members!

Can you believe I've lived in Utah for ... what, seven years, and had never visited Park City? You know, that world famous ski resort that was once a mining town (note: we didn't take that picture - still snowy there)? We took care of that this weekend, among a few other things - like making a rack thingy so we can hang spoons and ladles against the wall above our stove.

To top it all off, I got through my three chapter goal.

Yeah. That explains why I haven't been as active in the blogosphere as I usually am, but I have two posts lined up and some micro-fiction for you later this week.

Welcome aboard The Cosmic Laire, you fanawesomous new members! Don't forget your cruller on the way in.

Update: I'm hoping to get through chapter 10 of the Dragon's rewrite (in the middle of 8, so that seems doable - and I cut a lot!), and possibly paint a bedroom. Our home renovations somehow ended up on the back burner. Now's the time to pick up were we left off.

Let me just say that you guys are amazing. Thank you for reading and commenting to my advice and trope posts. It means a lot and I enjoy reading what you all have to say about them. Keep being awesome!

I'm David, and those Wonka Memes are everywhere!

  1. I've lived in Utah my whole life and been to Park City once. And not to ski either. It was to visit the partnering Dr's office to the one I worked at, and just to drop off a few things they needed asap.

Oh my gosh. How lame am I? Lol

  2. I actually can't believe that you haven't been to Park City. Hey David, I'm getting together some friends who (like me) are interested in seeing the Prometheus midnight showing. I got some people from work who have signed on. It'd be in June at the IMAX in South Jordan. Are you interested?

  3. I've never been to Park City either. I don't live in Utah, but I go there a lot. :) Hooray for Wonka! And good luck making your goals!

  4. Knew you had to be working on something since we haven't seen you around.
Not sure I've even been to Utah. Been just about everywhere else...

  5. *gasp* DPK... that's crazy! (But I guess like Cassie, I've never skied either which is crazy for a Utahan) I love Park City. I've always wanted to be that "breed" of person... You know, the kind that wears fleece pullovers and khakis that zip off at the thigh... Yeah, that'd be cool. ;)

  6. Very cool. Loved hearing about your trip. I think rewriting/editing than actually writing. At least for me it is. Welcome back. :)

  8. I lived in Utah for, um, 28 years or so and I've only been to the Park City outlet mall. Yea, I'm just that crazy exciting.

Good luck on the painting and writing!

  9. Rewrites. My ms is fighting against me. I'm going to have to start lifting heavier weights, so I can wrestle this thing!

  10. Never been to Utah, but apparently it's home to a bunch of science fiction/fantasy writers.

    Maybe I should move!

  12. Ohh that looks pretty. It reminds me of Sun Valley, Idaho.

  13. Everything goes through upheaval in the spring... your mss too! I noticed that. Great work making those goals. :) Wish I'd lived in Utah before... maybe later.

  15. I have never been to Utah, but I hear that it's a really beautiful state! I'll visit eventually :D

Oh and the Wonka memes are my absolute favorite. "Oh you wear a Northface jacket? You must go on so many adventures."

  16. I've been to Zion National Park. That was a very interesting place.

Your following seems to be growing exponentially. Congrats.

  17. You and Morgan Shamy(my two fave blogger friends) as well as my fave author, Brandon Sanderson, are all from Utah... hmmm, if I didn't like Oklahoma so much I'd consider moving!

  21. You have been a very busy writer/husband/traveler/home renovator. So many hats, so much progress. Keep it up. Love it here at the Cosmic Laire :-)

  22. Being a native of the Bay Area, I rarely ever visit the touristy spots. You know you're a true local when you visit one of these spots for the first time and think, wow, all these chances I've had to do this, and I'm finally here...

  23. Park City is a fun place--only visited there once, but always wanted to make it up there for Sundance Film Festival. Maybe in some other lifetime :)

  24. I don't live there so I don't know about Park City.

Awesome that you made your writing goal. I got some writing done too for a change. I have 2 walls to paint in my sunroom too.

  25. Thanks for the comments, but it was all Cassie :)

Good luck with the painting... I can never seem to finish one of those projects in the same year I begin....

Congrats on the three chapters... nice :)

  26. It's always fulfilling when you set realistic goals that you are able to reach.

Hey, don't feel bad about not visiting your local haunts. I had a friend who lived in Orlando for 10 years and never went to Disney World.

Continue on with reaching your goals!

By the way, I loved the Gene Wilder image.

  27. Congratulations on getting your chapters done! I've been to Park City once - when my husband (then boyfriend) lived in Salt Lake. I wasn't sure what the draw was. I liked going into the Wasatch Forest more!

  28. What am I going to do with you? How is it that you've never been to Park City? *shakes head* I'm glad that has been remedied, but mark your calendar now because you need to go back this summer and ride the alpine slides! So.Much.Fun!!!

And congrats on your chapters! You're freaking amazing!

  29. I just have to make it to Utah someday... :)haha

COngrats on the chapters! I made my goal for the weekend too. Wrote 5,000 words. Plan is to write 10,000 this week which I think will be doable because I'm traveling the whole week. Not much else to do in airports and hotel rooms :)

  30. Hey, great job on getting stuff done! Well done. I've never been to Utah, been to Colorado though. That's within a 1000 miles at least, right?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Now the real question is have you been hiking in Southern Utah? Why yes, I've been on a bit of a mission lately to get you northerners down here :)

  32. Thanks for the shout-out, and stopping by my blog! Love the Willy Wonka pic.
