Cross Your Fingers

All of my pitching material is in order and has been sent off to the right people. Now all I have to do is wait... wait and wait. I wonder how many words I can chalk up before then?

There are a few exciting highlights to share this week (and I apologize for not posting yesterday, as I struggled with how to knock off one of my characters). First, I finished a new chapter, about 5k words. A bit more than I wanted, but that's what happens when your scene takes place in a festival! Also, through the awesome efforts of my cool sister, she has shared the same book that I'm pitching next month to a friend of her's, someone that I've never met, and he's hooked, line and sinker. This means that I now have an official, though small, fan base in the Chicago area. I'm thrilled to say the least! AND, I've just reestablished contact with a terrific fellow and friend of mine, John Sanford of Dreamworks Animation. We used to be neighbors back in CA. Glad to hear from you again, buddy! Feel free to check out his astounding web comic here!

So now what? Breakfast is what! I must grab some fuel if I'm going to get any work done today. This week's agenda? Finish a new chapter, possibly two. The Que-ball is rolling, so I hope to get through the day without a scratch.

  1. Oh good luck. I can just imagine how hard it is to break into the industry.

My cousin is writing books and I am sure he will go through the same hardship as you have.
