This was a weekend to remember.
FantasyCon, in all its glory, may have been the coolest convention experience yet. Being invited to moderate panels was one thing, but it was another to see firsthand how awesome the fantasy fans of Utah are. I'm sure I didn't get to see a quarter of what happened. Live entertainment everywhere, celebrity photo-ops, art of all kinds, good food, costumes galore, and Wow! I even
ran into Peter S.
Beagle, author of The Last Unicorn.
Love that book. I was too star struck to ask for a
photo (dang it!).
As for the panels, they went down well in spite of a technical issue or two. No panelists arrived for my Dragons panel, so I was like, "Come on up here, Michael ... Let's talk about dragons!" and we winged that panel with a full crowd and had a blast. I'd totally do this again!
A picture is worth a thousand words, so here's a few pictures to save you from reading 20,000 words. Scroll down at your own peril!
Enter ... if you dare!
I need one of these in my garden ...
Are those REAL feathers?
Actual physical contact!
Live battles and LARPing!
Merida, Thranduil, Black Widow ... oh my!
Live owls and snakes!
Uruk-hai checking their schedule ...
Michael and I, chill'n with Jabba ...
A true pirate band, me hearty!
FIRE!
Sentinels and AT-ST action!
I can't see the other end of the building!
The Mighty Thor!
Loki's dating an elf?
For Rome!
Astrid with baby Toothless!
Hey, I didn't know you were coming,
Al!
Until next year, FantasyCon! I can't wait to rejoin the adventure.
