A To Z Challenge: The Last Of Us "The Last Of Us"

For my first A to Z Challenge ever, I'm highlighting a favorite track from various science fiction and fantasy movies, games, and TV shows. Feel free to press play and listen while you visit other A to Z participants.

My personal favorite game of 2013, The Last of Us took us on a tour of a post-apocalyptic world with zombie- like creatures, the likes of which we have never seen. Ellie has since been considered one of the best gaming characters in history. Composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, this score knows exactly what's going for it. Great, subtle tracks for writing.

There will be a new track tomorrow. Thank you for stopping by!

I'm David, and "whatever you do, make every shot count ..."

  1. Not what you'd expect from a zombie game - unique soundtrack.

  3. The Last of Us sounds like a fun game I could get into. :) Last year I remember hearing how Helen Page accused the developers of using her for Ellie. I have to say they do look alike.

Great song, too! I could listen to it all day. :)

  10. I love this kind of guitar music. It does bring a lot of inspiration. I had to wait for it to end so I can post the comment without interrupting it, hahaha.

  11. ZOMBIE PLANT PEOPLE, well it at least has that twist. Lol. I played this over three days with my daughter watching every minute of it like she was watching a movie. Truly this game will always be one of my favorites.

  14. Love this music! I will show this game to my son and see if he is familiar with it! This score sounds a bit like the haunting style of Mark Knopfler to me...(sp?) -- I love his composing. Thanks! jean

  15. It is a stirring soundtrack. The man looks a bit like the hero of HELL ON WHEELS. Helen Page has a point -- and since she does work with game makers, the producers should have just went with her. Plant zombies, huh? Sounds like the classic SF - DAY OF THE TRIFFEDS

  16. It reminds me a little of some of the Silent Hill scores. This is one of the games on my list of horror games to get to. :)

  25. I wonder what it is about zombies that has fascinated this generation of moviegoers/gamers/readers. Maybe it's just that it's something unique. We seem to have seen it all by now! Vampires, superheroes, ninjas...

  26. Unfortunately I'm unable to play this as it's an exclusive for Sony. I'm an XBoxer myself. Though, it may be available for PC, I just haven't bothered to find out being I don't do much PC gaming anymore. Diablo III brought me back for a spell, but it was short lived.

This is a great track, and I'm assuming I can find the soundtrack on Spotify, so I may have to check it out.

Not sure if you've ever played Bastion (I haven't), but you may enjoy the soundtrack (I do).
