Cover Reveals: Dragonfly Warrior and The Avatar Battle, Awesome Adjustments, and An Update!

Greetings, my friends! We're well into November and NaNoWriMo, and if that isn't exciting enough, two of my coolest blogging buds have something to reveal! Jay Noel's debut novel, Dragonfly Warrior, looks and sounds above and beyond awesome. Read all about it!

Savage Machines Are Afoot...

At the age of sixteen, Kanze Zenjiro's bloody footprints mark the bodies of those who stood in his way to protect the throne of Nihon. Now, the tyrannical Iberian Empire is bent on destroying his kingdom, and they send their steam-powered giants and iron spiders against him.

Zen embarks on a quest that takes him on the most dangerous journey of his life. To succeed, Zen must live up to his nickname, the Dragonfly Warrior, and kill all his enemies with only a sword and a pair of six-guns. He is called upon to somehow survive a test of faith and loyalty in a world so cruel and merciless, it borders on madness.

Dragonfly Warrior is a steampunk adventure like no other. It's a dynamic mix of Asian and European mythology, martial arts, the Wild West, traditional fantasy, and high powered steam action that will keep you turning the pages. This book debutes on January 6, 2014.

Seriously, this reminds me of a Wild Wild West version of Samurai Jack, so I'm looking forward to this release big time! Learn more about Jay by visiting his sites! jaynoel.com - Facebook - Twitter

Did you know that The Inventor's Secret is one of the hot MG books of the year? I sure thought so, and now I'm pleased to announce that Chad Morris's second year at Cragbridge Hall looks more promising than the first - I mean . . . just look at this gorgeous cover!

I'm not sure I even need a summary to be interested in this book. I could gush for hours on the colors, the sweet-looking blimp (with a noticeable explosion), the roaring gorilla with signs of wear and tear that reveals itself as a big, animatronic fighting machine with a kid controlling him in the background, and a strange holographic projection in the girl's hands. Yeah, this cover pretty much screams MG gold, and I'm not saying that lightly. I'd better prepare a spot on the shelf for it in the near future. Congratulations for the winning cover, Chad!

Update: many have been asking about my wife and how the newest addition to our family is doing, and I'm glad to say that both are doing great! Quick delivery, no complications, and his older brother and sister have this glow that no words can adequately describe. So, that means we have two boys. For future posts, The Boy is now Boy One, followed by Boy Two; nicer than calling them Things, right?

Thank you for your emails and well wishes, my friends!

As for my NaNo goal, I'm fully up to date on all my critique notes and chapter edits up to where The Undead Road left off. Butt-in-chair-until-it's-done time! It will be intense from here on out, so hopefully that and an endless supply of jerky will get me there (I'd normally snack on crullers, but I like to eat what my current MC's favorite snack is ... helps me get inside their head ... and stomach).

I'd like to thank everyone who checked out The Spirit of Christmas over the weekend. It reached #53 in Short Stories on Amazon, which is awesome! I appreciate the kind remarks on our stories. Now I can say I'm published, right? That was this year's goal, so there you go!

November may be a kind of "dead" month for blogging, but I'll still be around - got a ton of movies and stuff to review, and there's some worthy discussion to be had. Until then, see you when I see you!

How's your NaNoing going? Treating you well? What did you do over the weekend? Notice any good books I should be checking out?

I'm David, and who's ready to "Catch" some "Fire?"

Keep writing and editing! It will be a quiet month around here, but so many are writing hard, and that's good.
