*Looks out from under his rock* ... Is it safe to come out yet?
Nice. Looks like those Doomsayers had it wrong after all! And that's very good news for the winners of my Build Me A Blog-Hop - on pop!
NO! You must NOT hop on pop!
(Sorry ... been reading to the kids a lot lately ...).
Thank you to all who participated and for sharing your imagination with us. The choice wasn't easy, so while some will have a prize and others may not, I want you to know that you're winners in my book.
And the winners are ...
Best Runner Up (A box of Hostess Cupcakes) = Nicole Singer!
Her concept of "an ancient, well-loved tome" opened before us with "the glow of imagination" spilling forth and "a ship, a dragon, a galaxy, maybe even a sword or wizard" coming out of it really tickled my fancy. That would be a most excellent banner. And for such a sweet entry, Nicole gets this rare box of Hostess Cupcakes!
Hopefully they're still edible, hopefully ...
3rd Place (Design by Tara Tyler) = L. G. Keltner!
In her own words: "These black items of clothing would be sprinkled with twinkling stars, like I’m actually wearing the universe." Let me ask you, who wouldn't want to see that? So congratulations, L.G.! I know Tara has the means to sprinkle you with more stardust than a supernova!
2nd Place (Design by Darren Hansen) = Robin Hall!
Her vision of a cool banner with an "old fashioned typewriter" and "brown paper packages tied with twine with tags for my pages" as well as "a coffee cup with letters that swirl [my] name when the mouse tracks over it" has a certain, nostalgic charm to it that I couldn't resist. Darren's the man for the job for this one!
And now, 1st Place (A full blog redesign) = Shell Flower!
She wants to "incorporate" her town of "Bellingham, WA" into her blog, while maintaining her shelltastic theme. Images would include "a nautilus opening up to a fun anime image of me standing in the opening" with "the mountain of Bellingham in the background," and a majestic image that like deserves to me seen. Congratulations!
Please contact me via dpowersking [at] gmail [dot] com so I can introduce you to your designer and also so I can get your address (Nicole) so I can send your package. If anyone would like to take up my offer to critique your query, use that same email and send it to me this Wednesday, the 26th. The volume of queries may have an impact on response time, but I will get to them as soon as I am able.
Thank you again, one and all, for participating, and for helping make this milestone a success! Let's see if we can trump this next time!

Update: I survived Chuck and The Warrior Muse's Choose Your Own Apocalypse blogfest, which is worth celebrating. No more doom and gloom. Nothing but Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows from here on out! And so, life will be a celebration every day. Thanks, guys!
On the writing front? Humbug. BAH-Humbug! Can you believe that after last Monday's post I caught yet another cold, and that of this posting I still have it? Blasted bug won't go away. Since these things tend to hit me pretty hard I wasn't able to write diddly this week. Keeping up with the blogosphere was much more challenging than usual, too. That's why this will be my last post for the rest of this year. Need some time to recover and plan The Laire's schedule for 2013. Until then, you can enjoy this post from last year and this little video that is bound to usher the spirit of humanity into your home.
Merry Christmas, Everyone! See you in 2013! :)
I'm David, and only this guy is upset about our non-apocalypse ...
